NASHIK: The Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) has extended the deadline to receive applications for PhD from the interested candidates till May 5 from its earlier date of April 27.
The deadline has been extended due to technical glitches faced by the university. Acting upon the guidelines of Supreme Court, the university recently started applications for its regular PhD courses.
It also regularized the candidates who had enrolled for research work before the revised regulations of the University Grants Commission's for PhD in 2009 were introduced.
YCMOU vice-chancellor Manikrao Salunkhe said the university has so far received over 800 applications. "The deadline for applications has been extended on account of some common complaints received from the students. It is mandatory for students to attach degree certificates while applying, however, some students are yet to receive the document as the convocation event has not been held. Hence, it has been told that such students should attach passing certificate for the same," he added.
The dates for PhD entrance test (PET) have also been extended to May 24. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on May 10. The hall tickets for the examination would be made available from May 15 on its official website http://ycmou.digitaluniversity.ac
The results for the examination would be announced on May 30 and the interviews of qualified students would be conducted on June 5. The final list of shortlisted candidates would be displayed on the website by June 30.
The students would be allowed to address their grievances till July 3. The university would provide a fellowship of Rs 25,000 per month to its students. The students would have to pursue the degree by staying in university premises.
